I grew up in northern Nevada, enlisting in the Navy to pursue adventure and electronics training after graduating high school. I served aboard submarines (USS Alabama and USS Georgia) before leaving the service for a career in high tech in the Bay Area, eventually as a software developer for various large and small companies. My wife and I raised our 3 children there before I decided to retire and return to a rural community. I discovered Sloat and the river on a camping trip and ultimately bought a place as a vacation home, which I now reside at most of the year. During the winter months I migrate to Arizona, also along a river, the Colorado. I consider it a privilege to serve my community through the fire department. It is a great learning experience, and offers a chance to help others and protect the community, working as part of the team.
